A stress-free, crowd-pleasing party drink that combines crisp apples, sweet apple cider, rich caramel sauce, and a blend of vodka and spiced rum. Perfect for fall gatherings and easy to make in a large pitcher.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large apples (preferably Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala), cored and sliced
  • 1 bottle (64 oz) 100% pure apple cider
  • 1 cup thick caramel sauce
  • 1 cup vodka (vanilla vodka recommended)
  • 1 cup spiced rum
  • 34 large cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1 large orange, sliced into rounds
  • Ice cubes (large preferred)

Instructions

  1. Wash apples and oranges. Core and cut apples into thin wedges or small cubes. Slice orange into rounds, removing seeds. Place all fruit into a large pitcher.
  2. Toss cinnamon sticks and grated nutmeg over the fruit in the pitcher.
  3. Pour apple cider into the pitcher first, followed by the vodka and spiced rum.
  4. Drizzle caramel sauce over the top. Gently stir with a long spoon to dissolve the caramel somewhat while leaving some swirls for visual appeal.
  5. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (overnight is best) to allow flavors to meld.
  6. Remove from fridge, stir one last time, and serve over ice cubes. Garnish with fresh apple slices if desired.

Notes

Do not rush the infusion step; letting it sit for at least 2 hours improves flavor significantly. If the caramel is too thick, microwave it for 10 seconds to make it pourable. Avoid Red Delicious apples as they are mealy. This drink can be made up to 24 hours in advance. For a non-alcoholic version, omit spirits and replace with extra apple cider or sparkling apple cider.
