A quick and simple recipe for chocolate covered pretzel rods decorated with festive sprinkles, perfect for celebrations and satisfying salty-sweet cravings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • About 12 pretzel rods, sturdy and crunchy
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • 4 ounces white chocolate chips (optional)
  • ½ cup sprinkles (about 75 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or coconut oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat and have sprinkles ready in a shallow bowl.
  2. Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth (about 1.5-2 minutes). Stir in the oil if using.
  3. Dip each pretzel rod into the melted chocolate, coating about two-thirds of the rod. Let excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
  4. Immediately roll or sprinkle the coated pretzel into the sprinkles bowl to ensure they stick.
  5. Place the dipped rods on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Optional: Melt white chocolate chips and drizzle over the rods for decoration.
  7. Allow the rods to cool and harden at room temperature for about 30 minutes or chill in the fridge for 10-15 minutes.
  8. Store the set rods in an airtight container for freshness.

Notes

Use good quality chocolate for smooth melting. Thin chocolate with a tablespoon of oil for a glossy finish. Work quickly with sprinkles as chocolate hardens fast. Keep pretzel rods dry to prevent chocolate seizing. Avoid overcrowding rods on the tray. If chocolate seizes, add a splash of warm oil or milk and stir gently.
