A quick and easy DIY Lunchables recipe featuring ham, cheese, and crackers, perfect for kids’ snacks or light lunches. This nostalgic, customizable snack is ready in under 15 minutes and loved by both kids and adults.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 ounces smoked ham slices, preferably thinly sliced but not paper-thin
  • 68 ounces sharp cheddar or Colby Jack cheese slices, pre-sliced or sliced fresh
  • 1 box (5-6 ounces) buttery or multigrain crackers (e.g., Ritz or Triscuit)
  • Optional: handful of grape tomatoes, halved
  • Optional: baby carrots
  • Optional: pickle slices
  • Small container of mustard or ranch dip

Instructions

  1. If not pre-sliced, slice the ham into bite-size rectangles about 1 inch by 2 inches.
  2. Slice cheese into similar-sized pieces.
  3. Choose sturdy crackers that can hold toppings; lay out about 10-12 crackers per serving.
  4. Layer ham slices and cheese alternately on the crackers or in lunch containers. Fold ham for texture if desired.
  5. Add optional extras like grape tomatoes, baby carrots, or pickle slices on the side.
  6. Fill small cups with mustard or ranch dip and tuck them into the container.
  7. Close the lunch container securely. If prepping ahead, store in the fridge and add fresh veggies last minute to keep them crisp.

Notes

Keep crackers separate until serving to prevent sogginess. If cheese slices stick together, separate with parchment paper. For softer ham, briefly warm in a pan for 10 seconds without cooking fully. Use fresh crackers for best crunch. Assemble just before eating for optimal texture.
