Easy Mummy Hot Dogs with Spider Web Ketchup

These fun and easy mummy hot dogs are wrapped in flaky crescent dough and topped with a spider web ketchup design. Perfect for Halloween parties, they come together in about 25 minutes and are a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 hot dogs (standard size)
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 small piping bag or zip-top bag
  • Optional: candy eyes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Open the can of crescent dough. Unroll the dough onto a clean cutting board. Press the perforated seams together gently with your fingers to form one solid sheet.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the dough lengthwise into 8 to 10 strips, each about 1/2 inch wide.
  4. Take one strip of dough and start wrapping it around a hot dog at a slight angle. Leave a small gap at the top for the mummy’s face. Overlap the dough slightly as you go down. Do not stretch the dough.
  5. Place each wrapped hot dog on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about an inch of space between them.
  6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and the hot dog ends are slightly crispy.
  7. Let the mummies cool for 2 to 3 minutes on the baking sheet.
  8. While they cool, fill a piping bag or zip-top bag with ketchup. If using a zip-top bag, snip a tiny corner off.
  9. Pipe a small circle of ketchup near the top of each mummy for the head, then two small dots for eyes. For the web, pipe a spiral starting from the center of the body and working outward. Drag a toothpick from the center through the spiral lines to create the web effect. If using candy eyes, press them into the ketchup dots.
  10. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

Keep the dough cold for easier handling. Do not overbake; 12-15 minutes is ideal. For a make-ahead option, assemble the mummies up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerate, then bake just before serving. The spider web ketchup should be added after baking.
