A quick and simple paleo-friendly freezer jam made with fresh berries, raw honey, and chia seeds, perfect for a naturally sweet and spreadable homemade treat without cooking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups fresh mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • ½ cup raw honey
  • 3 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and prepare the berries: rinse under cold water, pat dry, remove stems and bruised parts, hull and cut strawberries into smaller pieces.
  2. Place berries in a mixing bowl and lightly mash with a fork or potato masher until chunky.
  3. Add raw honey and fresh lemon juice to the mashed berries and stir gently until combined.
  4. Sprinkle chia seeds evenly over the mixture and stir well. Add vanilla extract if using.
  5. Let the mixture sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes to allow chia seeds to thicken the jam.
  6. Spoon the jam into clean jars or airtight containers, leaving headspace if using glass jars.
  7. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before use.

Notes

Use ripe berries for best flavor. Do not over-mash to keep texture. Let honey and lemon juice come to room temperature before mixing. If jam is too runny after chilling, stir in an additional teaspoon of chia seeds and let sit longer. Use freezer-safe containers and leave headspace for expansion. Frozen berries can be used if thawed and drained well. Vanilla extract is optional but adds warmth. Maple syrup can substitute honey. Ground flaxseeds can substitute chia seeds.
