This creamy, tangy, and spicy buffalo chicken dip is made effortlessly in a slow cooker. Perfect for game day, parties, or any gathering, it’s a crowd-pleaser that requires minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs (680g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 8 oz (226g) block cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup (240ml) Frank’s RedHot Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) ranch dressing
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) buffalo wing sauce (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional garnishes: chopped green onions, crumbled blue cheese, extra hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker. Season lightly with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Pour about 1/4 cup of the hot sauce over the chicken.
  2. Cut the softened cream cheese into 4-5 chunks and place on top of the chicken.
  3. Pour the remaining hot sauce, buffalo wing sauce (if using), and ranch dressing over everything. Do not stir.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours, or until the chicken is tender and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  5. Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred with two forks or a hand mixer on low speed.
  6. Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and stir everything together until the cream cheese is fully incorporated and the dip is smooth and creamy.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Add more hot sauce for heat or extra ranch for creaminess.
  8. Switch the slow cooker to ‘keep warm’ setting until ready to serve. If the dip thickens, stir in a splash of milk or chicken broth.
  9. Garnish with chopped green onions and crumbled blue cheese if desired. Serve with tortilla chips, celery sticks, carrot sticks, or crusty bread.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature cream cheese and shred the chicken yourself. Stir halfway through cooking to ensure even melting. This dip can be made ahead and tastes even better the next day. To prevent separation, avoid overcooking and use full-fat cream cheese.
