Easy Spiced Peach Butter Recipe No Pectin Homemade Fall Favorite

easy spiced peach butter - featured image

A rich, warmly spiced peach butter made without pectin, perfect for cozy fall mornings and versatile for many uses. This recipe uses simple ingredients and slow cooking to create a smooth, flavorful spread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 pounds fresh peaches, peeled, pitted, and chopped
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (adjust depending on peach sweetness)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (about 1 lemon)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the peaches by peeling (blanch in boiling water for 30 seconds and plunge into ice water for easy peeling), pit, and chop into roughly 1-inch pieces.
  2. Place chopped peaches, sugar, and lemon juice in a large heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat. Stir gently to combine and simmer for about 10 minutes until peaches soften and sugar dissolves.
  3. Reduce heat to low and stir in cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and vanilla extract if using. Simmer uncovered for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking and burning, until the mixture thickens and fruit breaks down.
  4. Check consistency and blend if desired: use an immersion blender for smooth texture or mash gently with a potato masher for chunkier spread. This takes about 5-10 minutes.
  5. Return to low heat briefly if needed to reduce excess liquid. Ladle hot peach butter into sterilized jars, leaving about 1/4 inch headspace. Seal tightly and cool to room temperature before refrigerating.

Notes

Slow and steady simmering is key to avoid grainy texture or burning. Stir every 5 minutes during simmering. If peach butter is too runny, continue simmering gently; it thickens as it cools. For chunkier texture, mash by hand instead of blending. Store refrigerated up to 3 weeks or freeze for up to 6 months.
