A quick and easy honey garlic glazed salmon recipe with a sweet sticky finish, perfect for busy weeknights or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 salmon fillets (6 ounces each), skin-on or skinless, preferably wild-caught
  • 2 tablespoons honey (raw or local preferred)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional garnish: chopped green onions or toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides lightly with freshly ground black pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and minced garlic. Set aside.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add olive or avocado oil. Wait until oil shimmers but does not smoke.
  4. Place salmon fillets skin-side down in the hot pan. Cook for 4-5 minutes without moving until edges turn opaque and a golden crust forms.
  5. Flip salmon carefully and cook the other side for 3 minutes.
  6. Pour the honey garlic glaze over the salmon. Lower heat to medium-low and spoon the sauce over the fillets as it thickens and bubbles for 2-3 minutes until sticky and well-coated.
  7. If glaze thickens too much or darkens before salmon is cooked, add a splash of water to loosen it.
  8. Remove from heat and optionally sprinkle with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

Pat salmon dry before cooking to ensure a good sear. Control heat carefully to avoid burning the honey glaze. Add water if glaze thickens too fast. Let salmon rest off heat for a minute or two to set glaze and keep fish juicy. Optional: use fresh ginger or rice vinegar for extra flavor. Can bake at 400°F for 8-10 minutes after glazing for hands-off cooking.
